Portland Perfection

Loved this place! B&Bs can ("B"!) a bit hit and miss, but this was everything I usually hope for and more. We originally booked one night, but ended up staying two. It isn't chintz and gingham, if that's your thing ? the recent renovation makes this historic place truly elegant, but also truly warm and welcoming. It's a great place for foodies; not only is the breakfast perfection, but the management provided excellent restaurant recommendations, all within easy distance, in the lovely Portland downtown. Additionally, they went above and beyond in suggesting and help map out sightseeing, etc. Would probably travel all the way back to Maine (from California) just to enjoy a few more nights at the Danforth.

Beyond Accommodating

Fabulous inn! My husband and I stayed there this past weekend for a wedding in Portland. It's about a half mile from the downtown area of Portland, which makes for a brief walk to the area for dinner or drinks, but also puts it in a quiet residential area for sleeping/staying. The inn is BEAUTIFUL ? the rooms are gloriously appointed with fine furniture and art, and all together avoids the country "kitsch" of many B&Bs. This inn is comfortable with great historical details, but also fresh and modern. The staff was beyond accommodating and friendly. My only regret was that we only stayed one night. We'll definitely go back.

Wow! is all I can say. My husband and I knew there was a new owner that had completely redone The Danforth in Portland so we stayed there last Friday night on the way to Connecticut to check it out. Spectacular is all I can say. This is a totally new place. They do have before and afters on their facebook page. I hope TripAdvisor will get rid of the old comments under the previous regime. The new Danforth is fantastic.

Beautiful & Welcoming

I was welcomed by Leslie and her staff, then treated to a rich and relaxing cup of java. Room 3 is a massive and well appointed room with quaint bowed windows. I had a very comfortable king bed in a quiet room. The common areas are well decorated and full of beautiful pieces of silver and the work of local artists. Don't pass up a ginger scone if they are offered at breakfast! I look forward to going back!
